Kicking off the summer season is South Jordan's signature annual event, SoJo Summerfest. Headlined by activities at City Park, this family-friendly festival is celebrating with America250 themes and details this year.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the SoJo Summerfest Parade on Saturday, June 6 at 9:00 a.m. at City Park, followed by a popular Car Show at the community center field from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. If you are feeling active, sign up for the SoJo Summerfest 5K starting earlier that morning at 7:00 a.m. Food trucks, local market booths, and carnival rides will fill the park all weekend long.

Herriman: Fort Herriman Towne Days (June 24 – 27)

For a true Western-flavored community celebration, head south to Herriman. The beloved Fort Herriman Towne Days are scheduled for June 24–27, 2026. This is the city's largest annual event, packed with activities that bring the whole community together. Highlight events include the official Fort Herriman Towne Days Parade on Saturday, June 27, a custom car show, local food trucks, and plenty of entertainment for the kids.

Draper: Draper Days & Drone Spectacular (July 17 – 18)

Draper is famous for its sense of community, and nothing showcases it better than Draper Days 2026. Held at Draper City Park on July 17 and 18, this year's festival is bringing something brand new—a spectacular choreograph drone show on Friday evening immediately following the free live outdoor concert! Saturday evening's festivities will conclude with a massive traditional fireworks display.

Other weekend highlights include the traditional Draper Days Parade on Saturday, July 18 at 9:00 a.m. and the Draper Days 5K on Saturday, July 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the historic Day Barn.

Sandy: Balloon Lights & Concerts (Early August)

Sandy City's marquee event is the 19th Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival & Glow, taking place in early August. Early riders can witness stunning morning launches from Storm Mountain Park (1000 E. 11400 S.) against the backdrop of the rugged Wasatch Mountains. On Saturday evening, shift over to the South Towne Promenade for the glowing envelope display, an active outdoor dance party, inflatables, and a dazzling drone show.

Also, Sandy Amphitheater is in full swing from May through September. Take a look at their stellar schedule—including indie stars Jimmy Eat World with Motion City Soundtrack performing live on the lawn on July 22, 2026.

Lehi & Thanksgiving Point: Summer of Discovery

If you are in Utah County, Lehi's Thanksgiving Point remains the premier hub for family-friendly attraction. In addition to their year-round museums and gardens, they have launched an impressive lineup of summer-specific programing starting right now:

  • Imaginaria (Ashton Gardens, June 1 – August 22): An extraordinary interactive landscape and immersive outdoor art festival that brings the 50-acre Ashton Gardens to life like never before. Great for late afternoon and sunset strolls.
  • Rose Month (Throughout June): Walk through Ashton Gardens to see over 100 varieties of vibrant roses in full bloom.
  • Beetle Mania (Butterfly Biosphere, running through June 13): Up-close science exhibits perfect for educational summer fun with kids.
  • July 4th Independence Day Celebration: Spectacular fireworks over the gardens, alongside the annual Firecracker 2-Person Golf Scramble at the top-rated Thanksgiving Point Golf Club.

Summer Dining Guide: Local Favorites

All that exploring is bound to work up an appetite. Here is our personal "where to eat" guide, featuring local spots serving up spectacular summer menus and comfortable patio spaces.

Thanksgiving Point & Lehi

For a beautiful sit-down meal, Harvest Restaurant at Thanksgiving Point is hard to beat for contemporary American comfort food prepared with fresh, local ingredients. If you prefer to dine outdoors, head over to Trellis Café inside Ashton Gardens. Their seasonal patio dining offers panoramic views of the waterwheel and gardens, making it one of the absolute best lunch spots in Utah County during the summer. For a casual bite, grab a panini at The Tower Deli & Grill.

Daybreak (South Jordan)

In Daybreak, summer mornings call for a walk around Oquirrh Lake ending with a dirty chai and fresh pastry at Biscotts Bakery & Cafe (located right at the Hub). For a vibrant weekend brunch or fresh lunch, Moena Cafe Daybreak offers a lively atmosphere and excellent outdoor seating. If you are craving fresh Vietnamese classics, Cafe Trang Bistro serves up some of the most reliable pho and vermicelli bowls in the south valley.

Draper

Draper is home to The Cliff Dining Pub, an upscale American gastropub with a fantastic patio that looks out over the valley. It's the perfect spot to wind down a warm summer night. If you're looking for incredible comfort food, Sauce Boss Southern Kitchen on 12300 S delivers remarkable Southern-style favorites like hot chicken, ribs, and mac & cheese.

Farmers Markets & Food Truck Nights

One of our absolute favorite summer traditions is shopping local, and the Wasatch Front has some of the best farmers markets in Utah. Visiting these is a fantastic way to meet your neighbors and support local growers:

Sandy Farmers Market

Every Saturday morning starting in June through October, held on the grounds of the Sandy Amphitheater. Features fresh produce, local artisan honey, and handcrafted vendor booths.

Draper Farmers Market & Food Trucks

Held every Tuesday evening from July through October at Smith Fields Park (200 E 13400 S). Bring a blanket, grab dinner from local food trucks, and shop fresh local crops.

Herriman Summer Sunset Series

Recurring summer evening markets at J. Lynn Crane Park in Herriman. Features dynamic local musical performances, high-quality boutique vendor booths, and dynamic rows of food trucks.

Daybreak Lake Living

Summer brings food truck rallies, live concerts on the lawn, and community craft fairs to the waterfront of the Oquirrh Lake shoreline and Downtown Daybreak districts.

Outdoor Highlights: Summer Activities for Families

If you want to make the most of the incredible Utah weather, here are three simple outdoor ideas perfect for kids and adults alike:

  1. Paddleboarding on Oquirrh Lake: Did you know Daybreak residents can rent kayaks and paddleboards for free right on the lake? For non-residents, walking the 3.2-mile lake loop trail followed by a treat at Biscotts is an idyllic summer afternoon sport.
  2. Sunset Hikes in Corner Canyon: Draper's Corner Canyon is a mountain biker and hiker's dream. During hot summer days, head up the trail in the late afternoon (around 6:30 or 7:00 p.m.) when the sun dips behind the Oquirrh range, giving you shady trails and cooler temperatures.
  3. Splash Pads and Parks: Herriman's J. Lynn Crane Park features a fantastic water splash pad for the kids, right next to the spacious playground and shaded seating. It's a great spot to cool down on a warm Saturday afternoon.
