All three of Herriman's splash pads are now open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. through Labor Day — at J. Lynn Crane Park, Rosecrest Park, and Umbria Estates. These free splash pads are perfect for cooling off on warm June afternoons, and J. Lynn Crane Park also features a large playground and shaded seating areas for parents.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Herriman's over 60 miles of interconnected trails offer hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian riding. Blackridge Reservoir is open for swimming with a sandy beach, kayaking, and fishing — a hidden gem that feels like a mountain retreat without leaving the valley.
And the Herriman Summer Sunset Series continues at J. Lynn Crane Park throughout the summer, featuring live music, boutique vendor booths, and rotating food trucks — a perfect, relaxed way to spend a summer evening with neighbors.
June Outdoor Activities: Get Outside This Week
June is one of the most beautiful months along the Wasatch Front. Wildflower season is beginning in the foothills, canyon trails are clear of snow at lower elevations, and the long daylight hours (sunrise around 6:00 a.m., sunset near 9:00 p.m.) give you plenty of time for outdoor adventures. Here are our top picks for this week:
Evening Hikes in Corner Canyon (Draper)
As the days warm up, head up Corner Canyon in the late afternoon around 6:30–7:00 p.m. when the sun dips behind the Oquirrh range. You will enjoy shady trails, cooler temperatures, and spectacular sunset views over the south valley. The Bonneville Shoreline Trail and Antelope Island views from the ridgeline are particularly rewarding right now. If you are considering buying a home near Corner Canyon, this is the best way to experience the lifestyle firsthand.
Paddleboarding on Oquirrh Lake (Daybreak)
Daybreak residents can rent kayaks and paddleboards for free on Oquirrh Lake. For visitors, the 3.2-mile lake loop trail is perfect for a morning walk, followed by a dirty chai and fresh pastry at Biscotts Bakery & Cafe at the Hub. The lake is calmest in the early morning, making it ideal for sunrise paddle sessions. It is a small glimpse of the lifestyle that draws so many families to this community.
Blackridge Reservoir Swimming (Herriman)
This man-made reservoir with a sandy beach is Herriman's go-to summer swimming spot. The water warms up nicely by mid-June, and the surrounding trails and mountain biking paths make it easy to combine a swim with a full outdoor day. Kayaking and fishing are also popular here.
